Thatcher Chiropractic & Laser Answers Common Questions

If you're considering becoming a part of our practice family, we can't wait to welcome you. People who are new to chiropractic or have never been to Thatcher Chiropractic & Laser often wonder how it works or what we do. Below, you'll find answers to some of our most frequently asked questions.

Is chiropractic effective?

Yes. Chiropractic is recognized as one of the safest, most effective noninvasive therapies to address neuromusculoskeletal complaints. It corrects postural imbalances and structural misalignments to restore your nervous system function.

Are chiropractic adjustments safe?

Chiropractic is considered extremely safe. We use the Activator®, which is a handheld instrument that is well-researched for its safety and effectiveness. You may feel a little sore after an adjustment, but that is a completely normal reaction to the changes we're making.

Are chiropractors real doctors?

Yes. Doctors of Chiropractic go through an education quite similar to a medical doctor. They pass rigorous state and national board examinations to receive their license. Continuing education is required every year.

To see a detailed explanation of the education about the requirements to become a chiropractor, please visit the American Chiropractic Association website.

What will my first visit be like?

We want your experience to be the best doctor's visit you've ever had. We strive to do so by

  • Keeping your paperwork to a bare minimum
  • Streamlining the process to get you in and out as quickly as possible
  • Listening and connecting with you

If Dr. Thatcher doesn't believe chiropractic is the best avenue for you, he will refer you to someone in his extensive network of specialists.

Do you accept health insurance?

Yes, most insurances are accepted at our office. Please give us a call with your information and we'll check your benefits for you. We participate with ChiroHealth USA for those with large deductibles or who do not have coverage.

Do you see children?

Yes. Children are active and commonly fall down or take blows from their daily lives. Our Activator technique is the ideal way to address the needs of babies and children. You can even bring your newborn in shortly after birth so that we can ensure they haven't had spinal injuries during the birthing process.

Can chiropractic help with colic?

Yes. Colic is a digestion-related problem. Our adjustments stimulate the nervous system, which regulate all the body's functions, including digestion.

Do you see pregnant women?

Yes. Any mom knows about the aches, pains and stress related to pregnancy. We can keep you comfortable. Our technique doesn't involve cracking, pushing or twisting. Postpartum, we can make sure your body is in alignment and functioning properly.

What results can I expect?

Some people need just a few visits to get out of pain. Others experience more of a gradual improvement. It will depend on many variables, such as your particular complaint, your age and level of health. If we don't see improvement as we expect, we will refer you to another specialist.

Do I need a referral from my physician?

Some insurance plans may require that you get a referral to see Dr. Thatcher. We can help you navigate that. Just give us a call with your insurance information and we'll take care of the details.

Will you suggest exercises and other things I can do?

Yes. Lifestyle coaching is a large part of what Dr. Thatcher offers to each patient. This coaching includes specific exercises that target your areas of weakness.
