Chiropractor Ann Arbor, Dr. Bill Thatcher

Meet Dr. Bill Thatcher

I love being able to help others. I have two passions: to get people out of pain and to show them a path of lifelong wellness.

Dr. Bill’s father was Dr. Robert Thatcher, a well-known chiropractor from the Twin Cities. He was the first in the nation to be licensed to acupuncture. A pioneer, he lobbied in Washington, D.C. for years to have Medicare cover chiropractic, with many insurance companies following suit. Though chiropractic was always in Dr. Bill’s life, he struggled with choosing between the natural healing profession and becoming a pastor.

Following the Chiropractic Path

As he would continue to do throughout his life, he turned to God and asked for the answer. His faith led him to choose chiropractic. He attended the school his father had, Logan University. While there, he met Dr. Arlan W. Fuhr, the founder of Activator Methods®. Since Dr. Bill’s father used the Activator, he was already familiar with the technique. Going to seminars and getting to know Dr. Fuhr allowed him to develop his skills.

Dr. Bill started the Activator Club at Logan and began teaching it to his fellow students. In a strange twist of fate, it was Dr. Bill’s grandfather who awarded a scholarship, one of several awarded by his grandfather to Logan students, to Dr. Fuhr, allowing him to attend this school. Dr. Fuhr and Dr. Bill continue their friendship to this day.

Outside of the Office

After earning his Doctor of Chiropractic, Dr. Bill returned to Ann Arbor to practice. He and his wife Judy have been married for more than 30 years. They have three adult children. Their two daughters live in our community, and their son lives in Grand Rapids. When Dr. Bill isn’t with patients, he loves to play golf and tennis, travel, bike, and hike.
